ABOUT THIS MODULE
“Dates are much more than isolated markers of events. Organized into a chronology, dates establish sequence and synchronicity” ~ Clint Twist, 1999.
A chronological survey of the developments of Ancient architecture to Western architecture from the beginning of time to the period of Enlightenment, with consideration of the intellectual, aesthetic, technological, political and economic factors which have influenced the design of buildings. These issues are explored with reference to major contemporary examples and the work and philosophy of significant exponents.
Lecturers provided us lectures and assignments/projects that have detailed accounts of the principal developments in the early world from the ancient to revolutionary period to the present day. Buildings will be explored with reference to major contemporary examples and the work and philosophy of significant exponents.
In this case, we had a chance to undertake a major research of a significant building, complete with investigation of the major influences that led to its development and in turn its influence in other architectural aspects.

TIMES
online activities
Taylor's Integrated Moodle e-Learning System, or TIMeS, was used in this module as a communication tool and a platform to get information regarding the module materials, project briefs, assignments, and other important documents. There are task and quizzes given once in a while to help students to get a better understanding in the topics being taught. Once the students completed each task given, they will be rewarded badges. There are Knights, Queen and Bishop badges. These badges were associated with marks that students could earn through the participation of online activities.
